What is Smart Search and how does it work on MokoSuite?

Details
Last Updated: 18 June 2026

Smart Search (com_finder) uses a pre-built index for faster, more accurate results than the legacy Search component, which runs live database queries on every search. It supports stemming, phrase matching, content-type filtering, and relevance ranking. Enable it by installing the Finder plugins for each content type, building the index at Admin → Smart Search → Index, and placing the mod_finder module in the search position.

Can I add my own extensions to a MokoSuite site?

Details
Last Updated: 26 April 2026

Yes — submit an extension request to Moko Consulting with the extension name, source URL, and what you need it for. Moko Consulting evaluates it for security, compatibility, and maintenance status, then installs it on staging first. If it passes, it’s added to production and included in the ongoing update management service. Extensions that fail evaluation are declined with an explanation and an alternative recommendation. You retain full ownership of any custom code built for your site.

How do I change who can see a page on my MokoSuite site?

Details
Last Updated: 26 April 2026

Set the Access field on the article and/or menu item to control visibility. “Public” means everyone can see it; “Registered” means logged-in users only. To hide a menu link from non-members, set the menu item’s access level. To show the link but require login to read the content, set only the article’s access level. For membership-gated content, OS Membership Pro automates access by adding subscribers to a Joomla user group on payment and removing them on expiry.

How do I add a new page to my MokoSuite site?

Details
Last Updated: 26 April 2026

Adding a page requires two steps: create an article (Content → Articles → New), then create a menu item (Menus → Main Menu → New) pointing to it. Without a menu item, the article exists but has no URL on the site. Set the menu item’s parent to control where it appears in navigation, or leave it without a parent to make it accessible only via direct link.
